Payments, Changes & Cancellations

Booking your Awake tour should feel exciting, not stressful. Life happens, so we’ve built in real flexibility to help you book with confidence.

The short version

• Change your mind within 7 days. Full refund within 7 days of booking when your tour is 90+ days away.
• A small deposit locks your spot. Pay the rest in easy monthly instalments. The earlier you book, the smaller your payments.
• Plans changed? Cancel more than 60 days before your tour and everything you’ve paid above your deposit becomes Awake credit, valid for 12 months.
• Can’t make it? Hand your spot to a friend for free, any time, right up to departure.
• Safe and secure. Every payment goes through Stripe. We’ve been running tours since 2012 and are a licensed travel agent (TA 1542).

Paying for your tour

A small deposit locks in your spot and makes you officially part of the crew. After your change-of-mind window, the deposit is non-refundable, because it secures your place with our suppliers. Then pick the way you’d like to pay.

Option 1: Pay in full. Pay the balance upfront, with no fees.

Option 2: Monthly payment plan. Split the balance into easy monthly payments:

• Your first instalment comes out 4 weeks after your deposit, then on the same day each month.
• Your final instalment is due 60 days before your tour, so you’re all paid off before you go.
• Payments come out automatically from the card you used for your deposit.
• You can switch to paying in full at any time.

The earlier you book, the smaller your payments. Here’s a tour priced at A$3,479.50 with a A$579.50 deposit:

The payment plan 

There’s one flat fee per person on a plan: US$99, A$140 or €85.

• It’s charged within your first instalment, not at checkout.
• Switch to paying in full before your first instalment and you pay no fee at all.
• Once it’s charged, it stays charged, even if you pay off your balance early.
• Like your deposit, it’s non-refundable and isn’t added to credit if you cancel.
• You can swap to pay in full at any point in time during your monthly payments!

Updating your card

You can change your payment card any time in your private payment portal. Log in with the email you used at checkout, or contact us and we’ll help you update it securely.

If your plans change

More than 60 days before your tour: keep your money as credit

We keep your deposit (and payment plan fee, if it’s been charged). Everything else you’ve paid becomes Awake credit in your name.

• It works the same whether you’re on a payment plan or paid in full.
• Your credit lasts 12 months from the date you cancel.
• Use it toward any Awake tour, subject to availability. If your new tour costs more, you just pay the difference.
• Credit can be used once. If you later cancel the tour you used it on, the credit can’t be moved again, but you can still hand that spot to a friend.
• Moving your credit to a new tour doesn’t restart the 12 months.

Within 60 days of your tour: pass your spot to a friend

By this point your tour is fully paid and we’ve already paid for your accommodation, event tickets and activities. We can’t get that money back, so we can’t offer refunds or credit. But your spot is never wasted: you can hand it to a friend for free (see below).

Hand your spot to a friend, free

Can’t make it? Give your spot to someone else at no cost, any time up to departure.

• The new traveller joins the same tour, on the same dates you booked.
• They take over your payment plan and need to set up their payment details within 48 hours. If they don’t, the booking is treated as a cancellation.
• Any money between you and your friend is a private arrangement between the two of you.
• A spot that’s been handed on can be passed to someone else again, but it can’t be turned into credit.

Finding your replacement is up to you. We don’t resell or reassign spots, and our waitlist is only used to plan future tours.

Croatia and Coachella

These two tours work a little differently. We pay for the yacht and festival packages in full the moment you place your deposit, so your spot is fully secured from day one.

Because of that, Croatia and Coachella bookings can’t be changed to credit. You can still hand your spot to a friend for free, any time.

Booking for a group

The person who makes the booking is responsible for paying for everyone on it. Each person on a payment plan pays their own plan fee.

Want to split it? We’ll send your friends a secure link to add their own card. If they haven’t added it within 48 hours, payments continue on the main booker’s card.

Missed payments

If a payment fails, we’ll email you to sort it out. If three monthly payments in a row are missed and we can’t reach you on the email you gave us, we may cancel the booking and release your spot. Anything paid up to then is handled under this policy.

Your payments are secure

All payments are processed by Stripe, a trusted, PCI-compliant payment provider. Your card details are encrypted by Stripe, and we never see or store your full card number.

Travel insurance

Please take out comprehensive travel insurance when you book. Make sure it covers cancellation for any reason, pre-existing medical conditions, lost luggage, illness or death of a close relative, visa problems, injury and pregnancy.

We may ask to see your policy at any time. Insurance is what protects your money if something unexpected stops you from travelling, so travelling without it is at your own risk.
