I’m travelling solo. Will I fit in?

Absolutely. 65% of our travellers come solo, so you’ll be in great company. From night one, we make you feel like part of the family, and most people leave with friends for life. We’ll even match you with a roommate of the same gender and a similar age, so you’ve got an instant travel buddy.

What’s the age limit?

Our tours are for travellers aged 18 to 39. They’re built around a mindset as much as a destination: people who are up for new experiences, excited to meet new people and ready to make the most of every moment. If that sounds like you, you’ll fit right in.

Do I have to drink or party?

Absolutely not. Some of our travellers party, some drink, some come sober, and some are just there to be social. Some even work remotely while they’re on tour. There’s plenty of downtime to do your own thing too. All that really matters is that you love social travel.

Can I meet the crew before I go?

Yes! About 4 weeks before your tour, we set up a crew group chat. It’s the place to plan meet-ups, ask questions and get to know everyone. It’s also where you’ll all get through the post-tour blues together afterwards.

What’s included?

Pretty much everything from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave. Every tour is different, so check the “What’s Included” tab on your tour’s page for the full list.

Will I share a room?

Most of our tours are based on two people per room, and some also offer rooms for three. It can vary by tour, so contact us if you’re not sure. Prefer your own space? You can always book a room to yourself, usually with a 50% solo supplement.

Are festival tickets included?

On some tours they’re included, and on others you buy them separately. Your tour’s description will tell you which. If you’re unsure, get in touch and we’ll let you know.

Are flights included?

Flights aren’t included, so you can fly in from anywhere in the world. We all meet at the tour’s starting point. Need help finding a good deal? Contact us for a flight quote.

How much spending money should I bring?

It depends on the tour and how you like to travel. In Vegas you can spend $60 a day or $600. As a general guide, budget $200 to $250 a day if you don’t want to penny-pinch. Thailand is the exception: there, $40 a day has you eating and partying like royalty. Don’t forget to factor in the exchange rate.

Is Awake Tours legit?

100%. We’ve been running tours since 2012 and take 200 to 300 travellers overseas every year. We’re a licensed travel agent (TA 1542), and all payments are processed securely through Stripe. Booking and paying

Do I have to pay in full?

Nope! A small deposit locks in your spot. After that, you can pay the rest in easy monthly instalments that come out automatically from your card. Your final payment is due 60 days before your tour, and the earlier you book, the smaller your payments. See how payment plans work.

Is there a fee for the payment plan?

There’s one small flat fee per person: US$99, A$140 or €85. It’s charged with your first instalment, so if you switch to paying in full before then, you pay no fee at all. Paying in full upfront is always fee-free.

Is my payment secure?

Yes. All payments are processed by Stripe, a trusted, PCI-compliant payment provider. Your card details are encrypted, and we never see or store your full card number. You can update your card any time in your private payment portal.

Do you have a discount for groups?

Yes! Book with 6 or more mates and everyone gets $150 off their invoice. Round up the crew.

Changes and cancellations

What if I change my mind after booking?

You’ve got time. Book 90+ days before your tour and you can cancel within 7 days for a full refund, deposit included. Book 45 to 89 days out and you’ve got 48 hours.

What if I can’t go anymore?

If you cancel more than 60 days before your tour, everything you’ve paid above your deposit becomes Awake credit. It’s valid for 12 months and can be used toward any Awake tour. Within 60 days of your tour, you can hand your spot to a friend instead.

Can I give my spot to a friend?

Yes, for free, any time up to departure. Your friend joins the same tour on the same dates and takes over your payments.

Are any tours different?

Croatia and Coachella are paid for in full the moment you book, to lock in the yacht and festival packages. These bookings can’t be changed to credit, but you can still hand your spot to a friend for free.

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes, please. Comprehensive travel insurance is what protects your money if something unexpected stops you from travelling. Make sure it covers trip cancellation, medical costs and lost luggage.
